Farm Store

24’x36’ barn featuring timbers logged in Shelburne Falls, MA.

Simple Gifts Farm
Amherst, MA
July 2017

Project Description

Simple Gifts Farm is a CSA operation located in Amherst, MA. The timbers for this project were logged in Shelburne Falls and trucked to David Lashway’s mill in Goshen to be sawn. The 24’x36’ frame is a mix of eastern white pine and hemlock and consists of a common rafter design with principal purlins for the roof.  The joinery was cut at our shop in Williamsburg and then trucked to the site for assembly.

We insulated the building with re-claimed rigid foam boards on the roof and walls. The exterior siding consists of pine shiplap boards from Cowls, Inc.

Visit the farm at 1089 North Pleasant Street in Amherst. The store is open seven days a week, so pick up some of their locally grown veggies and check out the frame.
